Description (Service)

Programs to proactively help address personal mental and physical well-being in a safe and supportive environment

  • partnerships with leading community health practitioners and organizations
  • please note that some programs may require a physician’s referral or registration through partners

mYnd-pump

A free program that applies a holistic approach to wellness by encouraging young people to get in touch with their mental health through physical fitness

  • 12-week program, for youth (ages 12-18 years)
  • supports participants to build confidence, physical strength, resilience, and teamwork, all in a supportive social network
  • fitness classes, outings, and group time
  • youth will have access to coaches who guide and support all activities on this mental wellbeing and physical fitness journey
  • YMCA Memberships are provided to all participants, and will be extended for an additional three months to participants who complete the program.

Living with Parkinson’s

Partnered with the organization Passion for Parkinson’s to provide Free Exercise Programs for those in our community who are living with Parkinson’s

  • includes Tai Chi and Indoor Cycling Classes

Small Steps for Big Changes (SSBC)

An evidence-based counselling program designed by the Diabetes Prevention Research Group at the University of British Columbia

  • aims to help individuals make sustainable diet and exercise behaviour change
  • meet with your coach for six one-to-one 60-minute sessions over 4 weeks
  • discuss topics related to diet and exercise behaviour and learn techniques that will help you stick with the best exercise plan for your needs
  • track and measure your progress along the way
  • check in with your coach at 12 and 24 months after you complete the program
