Description and Service Details

Description (Service) 6-week intensive outpatient program provided for children and youth aged 12-18 requiring mental health treatment and education services in a local community high school to prevent hospitalization or to support students as they transition from the inpatient unit into a community setting * program meets daily and provides group and individual-based care within a therapeutic classroom environment * team includes child youth counsellors, social work, psychiatrist, teachers and educational assistants

Services include:
  • psychiatric assessment and treatment
  • individual, group and family counselling
  • academic programming in partnership with the Halton District School Board
  • family support and education
  • evidence-based practices including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectal Behavioural Therapy (DBT) with a focus on crisis management, symptom stabilization and skills development
