Description and Service Details

Description (Service)

Provides short term supports and counselling to children, youth, and families living with serious illness, grief, dying and death * provides information and resources for people living with illness and loss * monthly bereavement activities are held for children and families who have had a loved one die

  • Once the referral is received, HUUG staff will triage and provide services accordingly
  • Palliative referrals of less than 6 months and traumatic/sudden death will have immediate access to services, while bereavement support services will be waitlisted for services
  • Families are seen in the home or their place of preference
  • Heart House Hospice is the lead organization of the Children and Youth Grief Network

Eligibility Children and youth (up to the age of 18) who are living with the dying or death of a family member, residing in Peel or Halton Region, and children with a serious or terminal illness
